Bias Binding or Bias tape is a narrow strip of fabric, cut on the bias which is a cut strip of fabric which is at a 45 degrees angel to the length of the fabric, so it more stretchable, so ideal for round curves. Compared to a strip that is cut on the grain. Strips can be pieced together into a long “tape.”
Bias tape is used in making piping or cover pre-made piping, binding seams and finishing raw edges. It is often used on the edges of quilts, place mats, bibs, around armhole and neckline edges instead of a facing, and a simple strap or tie for casual bags or clothing.
Double-fold bias tape is bias tape which has been folded in half and pressed, with the single folds to the inside.
We sell devices to aid in making your own folded bias tape at home. The fabric strip is fed through the device, which folds the fabric. The folds are then ironed into place as it leaves the machine. The resulting folded tape will be 1/4 the width of the original fabric strip.
We sell bias in Satin, Polyester (very soft) Cotton and nylon fabrics in the full 20-25 metre rolls.
