Pressing Roll & Tailor’s Ham by Sew Easy
Pressing Roll & tailor’s ham by Sew Easy are two useful tools for making dressmaking look more professional.
Pressing Roll is a tool for pressing sleeves, seams, narrow garments and difficult to reach areas. When pressing seams the curved shape prevents the embossing of seam allowances onto the right side of the fabric.
Size: 29cm x 9cm x 8cm (11 3/8” x 3 1/2″ x 3 1/8”).
Tailor’s Ham is a requirement to add that professional look to your sewing. This curved shaped tool is used to emulate 3D areas of the body and aid with pressing darts, pleats and shaping. It can also be used to press curved seams, such as princess seams.
Size: 20cm x 14cm x 10cm (8” x 5 1/2” x 4”).
Both are filled with sawdust, the tailor’s ham is covered with wool on one side (red and black), and cotton on the other side (white). The sawdust pulls the steam through the tool and helps to ‘set the press’. The wool side is designed for voluminous fabrics that require a lower temperature, whereas the cotton side is for smoother fabrics and higher temperature settings.
