Both are filled with sawdust, the tailor’s ham is covered with wool on one side (red and black), and cotton on the other side (white). The sawdust pulls the steam through the tool and helps to ‘set the press’. The wool side is designed for voluminous fabrics that require a lower temperature, whereas the cotton side is for smoother fabrics and higher temperature settings.
